Description: All of our courses are approved by the National Board for Certified Counselors, the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification, Florida Board of Nursing and National Association of Alcoholism & Drug Abuse Counselors. This course meets license renewal continuing education requirements for many licensed health professionals and is taught using text, narrated PowerPoint, video and mp3 audio. All course materials and reference materials are available free online. The learner objectives are as follows. Understand the dynamic process of assisting families though expected and unexpected life events. Describe the Flower EmPower framework based on the best practice guideline process. Describe the comprehensive and perennial approach to best practices in the area of assisting families through transitions. Understand the process of sustaining a caring environment representing different interrelated components of promoting family health. Describe the core of the flower which represents the nurse-family partnership. Describe the four petals of the flower which represent assessing family need, sustaining a caring environment, identifying resources and support and educating and providing information. Describe the stem of the flower which symbolizes the advocacy activities and policy changes needed to ensure that the nursing activities that support and strengthen families can grow and flourish. Describe the leaves of the flower which represent vision, values and principles and are the source of a burgeoning model of Supporting and Strengthening Families. Describe the roots of the flower which symbolize how this best practice model is grounded in five axioms which are responsibility, resources, respect, results and recognition. Understand how the Supporting and Strengthening Families Flower flourishes under conditions where support is provided for implementation of best practices.
