Alzheimers and Dementias (More Info)

Description: All of our courses are approved by the National Board for Certified Counselors, the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification, Florida Board of Nursing and National Association of Alcoholism & Drug Abuse Counselors. This course meets license renewal continuing education requirements for many licensed health professionals and is taught using text, narrated PowerPoint, video and mp3 audio. All course materials and reference materials are available free online. The learner objectives are: Identify differences between the dementias; Accurately diagnose dementias based upon symptomatology and onset; Identify effective medications; Identify common problems of persons with dementia; Identify pharmacological interventions to deal with associated problems; Describe considerations when making patient placement/treatment decisions; Differentiate between effective and ineffective interventions for persons with dementia; List the symptoms common to the dementias; and Discuss the types of information and education the patient and family require.
