Description: All of our courses are approved by the National Board for Certified Counselors, the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification, Florida Board of Nursing and National Association of Alcoholism & Drug Abuse Counselors. This course on Medical Errors meets license renewal continuing education requirements for many licensed health professionals, specifically approved by the Florida Certification Board, and is taught using text, narrated PowerPoint, video and mp3 audio. All course materials and reference materials are available free online. The learner objectives are: Describe why strategic planning for medication safety is vital to all healthcare organizations; Identify the seven components necessary in a strategic plan for medication safety; Identify who should be involved in the medication safety planning process; Identify the processes that will assist participants in making appropriate judgments and decisions; Identify goals, communicate relevant changes in processes and procedures and evaluate progress towards goals; Initiate process assessments to identify areas needing safety improvements; Understand what the various stakeholders and contributors have to offer; Identify the 10 Key Elements of the Medication Use System and ways they can be promoted in the students own work setting; Identify the purpose of system redundancies; Identify error-prone processes in their organization.
