2009 NRP Current Issues Seminar: The Recipe for Success

http://aapexperience.org

This course offers something for everyone: the instructor, the clinician, and the investigator. The sessions will include new developments for NRP instructors, principles of simulation based training, evidence-based review of ethics and practice principles, global NRP initiatives, scientific updates, and NRP research grant summaries. The afternoon will include interactive sessions on how to perform all the steps of basic simulation, tips on debriefing advanced scenarios, and strategies on delivering bad news in labor and delivery. These sessions will be repeated to give participants the opportunity to attend more than one presentation and interact with members of the NRP Steering Committee and other neonatal experts.

AAP National Conference & Exhibition

http://www.AAPexperieNCE.org

Join us in Boston at the Hynes Convention Center for the many new and exciting events at the American Academy of Pediatrics ’08 National Conference & Exhibition. The AAP is extremely honored to announce Saturday’s Keynote speaker, Timothy P. Shriver, PhD, Chairman of the Special Olympics. Special free pre-conference events for attendees are scheduled Friday, Oct 10, including the annual symposia series with free CME – Peds21 focusing on Oral Health, and you won’t want to miss the Friday evening Welcome Reception and Kids Camp. We've shortened session times to increase educational focus among a myriad of pediatric topics and to also allow more traveling and networking time between the sessions. Plenary times have moved from early to mid morning; and the exhibit floor will be packed with state-of-the-art technology, products, and resources. Plan now to attend!

Pediatric Sedation, PALS & Airway Mangement Workshop

This workshop will provide participants with American Heart Association PALS® certification and better prepare them to handle adverse events that may result from procedural sedation administration. Closed claims analysis, reports and review of the literature indicate that the majority of complications and situations where intervention was required, regarding sedation administration, resulted from unanticipated drug reactions or drug interactions and/or respiratory compromise. Many institutions and state dental boards require ACLS or PALS certification to maintain sedation privileges, however the contemporary ACLS/PALS course does not focus on airway complications or respiratory depression nor does it review the pharmacology or pharmacokinetics of sedative agents. This workshop will engage participants in a sedative agent review, standard of care monitoring, airway assessment and management utilizing simulation for multiple devices and pertinent mega-code scenarios which will better prepare them for pediatric procedural sedation emergencies.
